Welcome

Welcome to Swatch Swap Book 2016 Central!

Sep 19 2017 – It’s finally online! See the gallery on this page.

Dec 16 2016 – All books have been mailed! Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Swatch Swap.

Despite the work, we had a lot of fun and satisfaction putting the books together and we’re very pleased with the outcome. We hope you are too. And also, that you are inspired to put lots of new papermaking ideas on your to do list – marbling, dying, Japanese knotweed paper, phragmites, fishscales!!!

August 31, 2016 – We have to hear from you before this date if you want to participate.

October 15, 2016 – We have to have everybody’s swatches by this date.

Year’s end is when we hope to have mailed everybody’s 2016 Swatch Swap book.

The Concept —

Every year, papermakers the world over send a couple of organizers samples of some of their latest, greatest papers. The organizers then send everyone a beautiful book of everybody’s swatches – and the recipes – in return. See some pix of previous books.

You pull a couple sheets of each wonderful paper and cut them into 2″ x 3″ swatches. You can send us up to 3 different samples (and their recipes.) The organizers take the swatches and create swatchbooks. One for each participant.

So, how many 2″ x 3″ swatches of each of your samples do you send us?? Please send 80 swatches (2″ x 3″) for each sample you make.

There’s a cost, right? Yes, $27 for money orders (made out to Barbara Landes) and $29 if you use PayPal. (No Paypal buttons for us, we’ll invoice you by email, See The Rules 6-D to be precise)

The deadline to tell us if you’re going to participate is August 31, 2016. You have to have your swatches to us by October 15, 2016. We really want to get everybody’s book to them by year’s end.
